The refuge

Located on the banks of the Estom lake, our refuge is a fishing paradise, but much more besides!
The enchanting green Lutour valley and the mountain stream you have followed to reach us are delightful.
In the early hours you might catch sight of some of the wildlife living here, like the famous Pyrenean isards. Keep your voices down, and your eyes open!
Access is easy along the wide, clearly-marked path which winds its way regularly up from plateau to plateau, shaded by firs and scotch pines. Beside you the burbling stream is only interrupted by cascading waterfalls.
While access to the Estom refuge is relatively easy (care should nevertheless be taken on the path which gets steeper and stonier after the Portail de Limouras), don’t forget that you’re in the mountains, where a small problem can quickly become a big one. Wear suitable shoes or boots, and bring what you might need (make sure you there’s some warm clothing in your backpack).
There’s a spring available when you get to the refuge where you can fill your water bottles.
The Estom refuge is also a stopover for hikers coming from Baysselance via the Gentianes pass, from Oulettes de Gaube via the Araillé pass or from the Clot Refuge.
Don’t forget to book if you’d like to spend the night in this enchanting spot, especially if you want to build up your strength with a meal.
Lucie and Julien will be at the Estom refuge all summer to welcome you.
The Estom refuge is owned by Commission Syndicale de la Vallée de Saint-Savin.
